Ramesh's research focuses on modeling and supporting knowledge intensive activities in complex organizational contexts. He has investigated these topics in a wide variety of domains such as large-scale and agile systems development, new product development, and supply chain management. His work draws from organizational theories as well as methods and tools from artificial intelligence and has used diverse methods (e.g., design science, experiments, field studies, qualitative methods). His work has appeared in several journals, including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, ACM Transactions on MIS, European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Journal, Communications of the ACM, Information & Management, Requirements Engineering Journal, IEEE Software, IEEE Internet Computing, and IEEE Intelligent Systems.
Ramesh's work has been funded by several grants of over US $ 18 million from leading government and private industry sources, such as the NSF, DoD, DARPA, ONR, ARL, Axim Collaborative / MIT and Accenture. He received the AIS Impact Award in 2023 for his technological impact, particularly for the use of process knowledge to improve the quality of Information Systems Development.
